Richard Santos is a writer and teacher. He has an MA in Literature from Georgetown University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Texas State University. His first novel, Trust Me, is forthcoming from Arte Público Press. He has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, the StorySouth Million Writers Award, Dzanc Best of the Web, and he was an honorable mention in The University of Tulsa’s Katherine Anne Porter award. He has served as fiction editor for Front Porch and is joining American Short Fiction as an Assistant Editor. His writing can be found in The Los Angeles Review of Books, The Rumpus, The Morning News, Kirkus Reviews, The San Antonio Express News, Nimrod, Cosmonauts Avenue, and many more. In a previous career he worked for some of the nation’s top political consultants, campaigns, and labor unions. He author electoral strategy guides used by the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Governor’s Association, The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and other national organizations. He has written press releases, talking points, and speeches for presidential campaigns.
